Dr. Whitwell is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. She is also a member of the American Board of Pathology and the American Academy of Forensic Sciences.
Dr. Whitwell is currently a Professor of Pathology at the University of Glasgow. She is also the Director of the Glasgow Neurotrauma Research Group.
